I'd say Delphi 2005 is a tremendous improvement over the prior versions. It has many new useful features for both individual and team developers, includes:
- Provides a multiple-language development environment, much better than D8
(Delphi , C# for Win32 and dotnet platform, and ASP.Net)
- Refractoring (Variable declaration, renaming, method extraction)
- Help and error insights(I love this change!)
- History manager
- New delphi language features like For..In loop (thumb up!), function Inline (still study it) and etc
- ADO.Net, DataHb, DataSync in database development (studying too)
- enhancement in web development
- ECOII (cooool!)
- many and many ...

Gordon commented that Delphi now is a programming language in D2005, while Pascal for D1 - D7.

Comparing with D7, the loading time is much longer in D2005. Prehaps it is normal for IDE with multiple personalities. But memory usage and crashes should be an issue we need to watch out. During the demo session, we experienced crashes and some unknown errors that needed to reload Delphi again. Gordon claimed this may be due to his beta version of D2005. Some reviews in newsgroups also mentioned of this issue.
