I'm a rookie programmer

24.11.04

Go to a new working environment from this month, meet new people, adapt to new culture, do new tasks, learn new programming methods... November is a tough days. At the first week, I felt I was a completely rookie in front of the delphi programs. I spent days to *read* a piece of source codes but still not understood what it was. It was a very terrible feeling.

In the last company I always spent at least half hour to visit borland newsgroups everyday before the work. It is a good way for me to explore more in different aspects and improve self programmming skill set. But my new company prohibit using Outlook Express and so I can no longer visit it through it :( I loving using Outlook Express for reading newsgroup posts.

Certainly delphi.newswhat.com is a good alternative for reading delphi posts but it keeps the latest posts only. Anyway, thank you very much, Marco Cantu! Now I visit your site every morning.

By the way, Google also provides a new group searching service. Try yet?

You should try the wonderful XanaNews client. It is written in Delphi and comes with complete source code if you are interested.

It is MUCH better than Outlook Express but has a similar interface.

I'd second that suggestion for XanaNews. It is a great client.

Also, you can search just the Borland related newsgroups here:

http://www.fulltextsearch.com/

It includes a lot of other newsgroups you wouldn't normally be able to search. And best of all it is also written in Delphi.

Thanks telling me about XanaNews :)
But I still cannot read newsgroup posts in XanaNews. Maybe something wrong in my setting or the port being blocked by the firewall.
